Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics
Jovana Kostić is a Research Assistant in the Human Molecular Genetics Group IMGGE. Her research is focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental disorders.
She obtained her BSc degree in Biology in 2019 at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, University of Niš, where she also defended her MSc thesis in 2021. In the same year, she enrolled in PhD studies in Molecular Biomedicine at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. Since 2022, she has been employed at IMGGE as a Junior Researcher.
She is currently conducting the experimental part of her doctoral dissertation, which explores the impact of 22q11.2 microduplication on neural differentiation using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) derived from patients with the inherited form of the 22q11.2 duplication syndrome. Her research involves a variety of molecular biology techniques, cell culture work, and bioinformatics analysis.
