Center for Industrial Biotechnology is equipped for a variety of biotechnological research activities and applications: assessment of carbon and nutrient sources for bacterial growth, microbial growth optimizations, isolation and characterization of fermentation products, waste conversion to bioplastics, recombinant protein expression, enzyme development and directed mutagenesis, bioformulations, biocatalyst development and biocatalytic reactions.

The following equipment is available within this facility:

  • Bioreactor EDF-5.4_1 (Biotehniskais centrs, Latvia)

  • System Duetz (EnzyScreen BV, The Netherlands)

  • Laboratory Freeze Drier Alpha 1-2 LDplus Entry Package (Martin Christ, Gefriertrocknungsanlagen GmbH, Germany)

  • Rotary evaporator BÜCHI Rotavapor R-300 (BÜCHI Labortechnik AG, Switzerland)

  • Gravitation column chromatography (Sigma Aldrich, Germany)

  • High performance liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS) instrument Thermo Scientific Ultimate 3000 with a UV detector UltiMate 3000 DAD and mass detector TSQ Fortis with OptaMax NG Source, OPTON-30426 SW (Thermo Scientific, USA)
