Jelena Pantović
Group for Sociomicrobiology
Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology
Jelena Pantović is a research assistant in the Sociomicrobiology Group at the Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology, Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), University of Belgrade (Serbia). Her research focused on chronic infections, with an emphasis on studying the adaptation mechanisms of the bacteria to conditions within the gastrointestinal tract.
Currently, Jelena is conducting the experimental work for her PhD thesis, focusing on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying the adaptation of Salmonella bacteria and how these adaptations influence their virulence.
Jelena earned her Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade, in 2020 followed by a Master's degree in Biochemistry in 2021. After working in the Laboratory for examination of congenital metabolic disorders for a year, she enrolled in the PhD program in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry in 2022 and began working at IMGGE as a junior researcher in 2023.
