Vanda Balint Stevanović
Group for Human Molecular Genetics
Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics
Dr Vanda Balint Stevanović is a Research Associate in the Human Molecular Genetics Group IMGGE. During her doctoral dissertation, she studied the molecular mechanisms underlying reactive astrogliosis and senescence of astrocytes. The results she achieved in the course of her scientific research so far and which are an integral part of her doctoral dissertation contributed to a better understanding of the role of SOX2 and SOX9 in the process of reactive astrogliosis. Also, during her doctoral studies, she was actively involved in research that for the first time indicated the correlation of miR-21 with cellular senescence of astrocytes.
Vanda attained her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology, at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, in 2017, and her master's degree, module Neurobiology, in 2018. In the same year, she enrolled in doctoral studies in molecular biology, module Molecular Biology of Eukaryotes, at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. She completed her doctoral studies in 2025 and is currently employed as a research associate at IMGGE.
