Sofija Dunjić Manevski
Group for Molecular Biology
Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics
Sofija Dunjić Manevski is a Research Associate in the Molecular Biology Group at the IMGGE. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of thrombosis and hemostasis, the connection between thrombosis and cancer, as well as the development and implementation of new hemostatic assays. As part of her doctoral dissertation, she investigated the mechanism of the prothrombin Belgrade mutation and antithrombin resistance as a novel thrombophilic mechanism.
Sofija graduated from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, with a degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology in 2016, and earned her master’s degree in 2017 at the same faculty, specializing in Human Molecular Biology. She enrolled in doctoral studies at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, in 2017. She has been part of the Molecular Biology Group since 2016, initially as a volunteer, and from 2018 to 2021 she worked as a research trainee. From 2020 to 2025, she was also a member of the Early Career Committee of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, where she contributed to designing and implementing career development programs for young scientists and clinicians in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis.
In her free time, Sofija enjoys collecting and reading comics and books, as well as exploring the scientific side of cooking.
