De-novo sequencing of 82 selected strains with biomass-degrading and bioremediation potential
JGI Community Science Program, US DOE, FP00010829, 2020-2023
Principal Investigator: Dr MIlica Ciric, IMGGE
Participant from IMGGE: Dr Lidija Djokic
Genomes of 82 bacteria, selected based on their ability to degrade lignocellulosic biomass and bioremediation potential, will be de novo seqenced. Sequences will be subjected to genome mining for enzymatic activities, such as laccases, lignin peroxidases, xylanases, and cellullases and genes associated with heavy metal tolerance. Putative novel functions of interest will be tested in series of enzymatic assays.
