PLASH - Probiotic lactobacilli as therapeutics for wound healing
The PLASH project is designed to address the problem of intracellular skin infections as a leading cause of impaired wound healing. The project is currently ongoing in IMGGE and the laboratory of dr Irena Pastar at the University of Miami. PLASH aims to select the most potent strains of probiotic lactobacilli with potential to reduce accumulation of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (green color) residing inside the skin cells (red and blue color). The project is funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia through the Diaspora Collaboration Program.
