The Molecular Biomedicine Group published a paper in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences titled „High Expression Levels of the Long Non-Coding RNAs Lnc-IRF2-3 and Lnc-KIAA1755-4 Are Markers of Poor Prognosis in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia“.
This study examined the expression of the long non-coding RNAs lnc-IRF2-3 and lnc-KIAA1755-4 in blood cells from patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Both molecules were found to be present in higher amounts in CLL samples compared to healthy controls, and their high levels were associated with poor clinicobiological characteristics of the patients. This study confirmed that high expression of lnc-IRF2-3 3 and lnc-KIAA1755-4 may be a marker for poor prognosis in CLL, but further research is needed to clarify the mechanisms of regulation and action of these molecules.
The study was conducted in collaboration with the Clinic of Hematology, University Clinical Center of Serbia.
