Group for molecular biology of plants
Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology
Dr Nataša Lukić is an Assistant Research Professor in the Group for Molecular Plant Biology IMGGE. Her research explores how plants adapt to abiotic stresses such as drought, flooding, and salinity, with a special focus on plant stress memory and priming – the ability of plants to “remember” previous stress exposure and respond more effectively to recurring challenges. She investigates antioxidative defence mechanisms, secondary metabolites, and molecular processes that underpin plant resilience, as well as transgenerational stress effects that shape the adaptive potential of plant populations.
She holds two doctoral degrees, in Plant Biochemistry and Physiology (Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia) and Plant Ecology (Faculty of Agriculture, University of Hohenheim, Germany). She gained valuable research and teaching experience working at the University of Banja Luka and the University of Hohenheim. Dr Lukić received the prestigious “Josif Pančić” Award from Matica Srpska for outstanding scientific achievements in botany. Dr Lukić is the author and co-author of numerous scientific papers published in peer-reviewed international journals. She is actively engaged in international projects and COST Actions on crop resilience and sustainable land use, and leads national projects on the stress tolerance of cereals and medicinal plants. With her role as a reviewer and editor in high-ranking journals, and her active participation in international conferences and workshops, she contributes to advancing scientific knowledge and fostering international research collaboration in the fields of plant molecular biology and physiology.
