Natalija Azanjac is a Research Assistant in the Plant Molecular Biology Group IMGGE. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, in 2019, and completed her Master’s studies in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in 2020, defending a thesis titled “Isolation and Molecular Characterization of Suppressors of the blm Mutant Under Replication Stress in Ustilago maydis.” She was awarded the Goran Ljubijankić Foundation Prize for the best Master’s thesis in molecular biology defended in 2020.
She began her PhD studies in 2020 in the field of Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, and started working as a Junior Researcher at IMGGE in 2021.
Her research interests lie in the field of molecular genetics, with a particular focus on genome integrity maintenance mechanisms, DNA repair, homologous recombination, and the resolution of recombination intermediates.
