Group for Plant Molecular Biology
Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology
Maša Terzović is a Junior Researcher in the Plant Molecular Biology Group IMGGE.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2023 and completed her Master's studies in 2024, at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology module, by defending her Master's thesis entitled "A new approach in identifying dss1 suppressors by whole genome sequencing of Ustilago maydis". In the same year, she enrolled in a PhD program in Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology (University of Belgrade), while in November 2024, she obtained the title of Junior Researcher. During her Master's studies, she was awarded the "Dositeja" scholarship by the Fund for Young Talents, while for her master's thesis, she received the award of the "Goran Ljubijankić" Foundation for the best master's and doctoral theses in the field of molecular biology defended in 2024.
Main areas of her scientific interest are: molecular genetics, examination of factors involved in maintaining the genome integrity, molecular basis of the DNA molecule repair process (especially homologous recombination). During her previous work, she was involved in examining the dss1 gene deficiency suppressors in the model organism Ustilago maydis, as one of the significant participants in the process of homologous recombination.
