Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics
I graduated in 2014 at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, with a degree in Biology. In 2019 I started PhD studies in Biology, Genetics module, at the same faculty. The experimental part of my doctoral research is conducted at the Center for Forensic and Applied Molecular Genetics, Faculty of Biology. My doctoral research focuses on developing predictive models for estimating human chronological age from blood samples and buccal swabs, based on the methylation status of selected DNA methylation markers. The models are developed using regression and machine learning approaches and are intended for implementation in forensic investigations to support age estimation of persons of interest, contributing to more efficient criminal investigations.
Starting in January 2015, for the next 7 years, I have worked as a DNA analyst at the private laboratory DNA Center for Genetics, where I performed forensic DNA analysis, paternity and kinship testing, prenatal diagnostics, and genetic ancestry testing. In May 2022, I joined the Security Information Agency, where I worked in the Department for Biological Examinations, conducting forensic DNA analyses. In February 2025, I joined IMGGI as a technician in the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics, where I was responsible for the reception and processing of human biological samples. In the same year, I was appointed Research Associate at the Institute, and since February 2026, I have been employed in a research position.
As first author, I have published one original scientific paper and two review articles, and I had one poster presentation at an international conference and one poster presentation at a national conference (full list available on ORCID). My scientific interests include forensic genetics, particularly forensic DNA phenotyping, epigenetics of aging, cancer genetics, and rare disease diagnostics.
