Group for Molecular Biomedicine
Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics
Katarina Krstajić is a Junior Researcher at the Molecular Biomedicine Group IMGGE. Her research is primarily focused on the application of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology for investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying thiopurine-induced pancreatitis.
As part of her doctoral dissertation, she is currently engaged in experimental work encompassing the generation of iPSC lines and their directed differentiation into pancreatic cell types, with the aim of characterizing cellular responses to thiopurine exposure. The project includes comprehensive transcriptome analyses designed to identify novel biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and personalized therapeutic approaches to pancreatitis.
Katarina obtained her BSc degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, in 2022, followed by an MSc degree in Forensic Biology at the same institution in 2023. She is presently a PhD candidate in the Molecular Biomedicine program at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, alongside her appointment as a Junior Researcher at IMGGE.
