Dušan Radojević

Assistant Research Professor

Group for Probiotics and Microbiota-Host Interaction
Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology

Dušan Radojević is Assistant Research Professor in the Probiotics and Host-Microbiota interaction group. He graduated in 2015 from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, where he also completed his Master’s degree in 2016 and his PhD in 2023. Since 2018, he has been employed at the IMGGE.

During his PhD studies, he investigated the relationship between gut microbiota properties and their metabolites with the phenotypic and functional variability of myeloid cells generated using in vitro protocols. He was awarded the “Goran Ljubijankić” Foundation Award for the best PhD thesis in molecular biology, the “Stanka Romac” Foundation Award for the best PhD thesis in human molecular genetics or biomedicine, as well as the prize for the best presentation at the scientific meeting held on World Immunology Day in Belgrade (2023).

His research is focused on studying host-microbiota interactions in health and disease, with a particular emphasis on aging. In addition to experimental methods, he applies bioinformatics tools for the processing and analysis of metagenomic, genomic, and transcriptomic data. In 2025, he spent three months in advanced training at the University of Naples Federico II as a fellow of the Federation of European Microbiological Societies. He also supervised a student research project that was awarded by the University of Belgrade as the best student scientific research work in 2024.

He has participated in several national and international scientific, R&D, and innovation projects and has served on the organizing committee of two international conferences. He is a member of the Serbian Society for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Serbian Society for Microbiology, Immunological Society of Serbia and Serbian Society for Molecular Biology.
