Associate Research Professor

Group for Human Molecular Genetics
Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics

Danijela Stanisavljević Ninković, PhD, is a biologist whose research focuses on human molecular genetics. She obtained a graduation degree in Biology in 2011 at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. Her PhD dissertation, earned in 2017 at the same faculty, focused on the analysis of the expression and role of the human SOX14 gene in in vitro neural differentiation and regulation of the malignant phenotype. In recent years, her work has been dedicated to identifying microRNA expression profiles and investigating their roles in various physiological and pathophysiological processes, as well as exploring new potential antitumor agents tested on different in vitro models. She has undertaken professional visits to the Institute of Radiation Biology at the Helmholtz Center in Munich. She was awarded with IBRO InEurope Short Stay Grant and the #IBROSpeakerSupport.  She was a leader of a bilateral project on understanding how microRNA influence the radiosensitivity of glioblastoma cells with the Republic of Germany and a collaborative Proof-of-Concept project that investigated biomarkers of male infertility. Additionally, she coordinated the dissemination and communication work package within the STREAMLINE project, funded by the European Commission. She is actively involved in doctoral education at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, and is committed to science communication and public outreach.
