Anđela Dilparić

Junior Researcher

Group for Sociomicrobiology
Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology

Andjela Dilparic is a Junior Researcher in the Sociomicrobiology Group IMGGE. Her research is focused on enzymes that disrupt interbacterial communication and inhibit the production of virulence factors and biofilms in the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

The experimental part of the PhD thesis includes the identification and characterization of new enzymes with antivirulent properties. The main part of the research includes genome mining from natural bacterial sources, heterologous expression and biochemical characterization of candidates, and testing the effect on the virulence factors synthesis and biofilm production in the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Anđela earned her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology from the Faculty of Biology of the University of Belgrade in 2020, and in 2021 she completed her Master's studies in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at the same faculty. She enrolled in the PhD program in Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Belgrade in 2021 and was employed as a Junior Researcher at IMGGE in 2022.
