Group for Human Molecular Genetics
Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Genomics
Aleksandra Medić is a Research Assistant in the Human Molecular Genetics Group IMGGE.
Aleksandra is currently working on her PhD thesis, which involves experimental research focused on establishing in vitro models of pancreatic cancer, with the aim of analyzing intercellular interactions and investigating molecular mechanisms that contribute to the development of the malignant phenotype. In parallel, her research focuses on evaluating the antitumor potential of natural and synthetic compounds, with particular emphasis on coumarin–palladium complexes as potential therapeutics for pancreatic cancer. The experimental work includes the use of mixed two-dimensional and three-dimensional cell cultures, as well as in vivo zebrafish (Danio rerio) xenotransplants.
She completed her undergraduate studies in 2017 at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, where she also obtained her Master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology - Neurobiology in 2018. Aleksandra began PhD studies in 2019 at the same faculty and joined IMGGE as a Junior Researcher. She was appointed to the position of Research Assistant in 2022.
