GMM works on new determinants/mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, their spread among pathogenic bacteria and on the discovery of new antimicrobial agents (antimicrobial peptides, lipopeptides, antibiotics and bacteriophages), anti-virulence factors and mechanisms used by beneficial bacteria in competition with pathogens for the same receptors on the host.
GMM is mainly engaged in fundamental research using a large number of classical and modern methods of microbiology, molecular genetics of microorganisms and genetic engineering in order to: isolate new bacterial strains with antimicrobial activity, clone genes of interest (both responsible for antibiotic resistance and synthesis of antimicrobial compounds), study regulation of their expression, overexpression, analyze the mechanisms of their action and application.
