Naučnoistraživački interesi Labratorije za molekularnu genetiku i ekologiju mikroorganizama obuhvataju biotehnologiju, molekularnu genetiku, biohemiju i ekologiju mikroorganizama i njihovih zajednica.

Naša laboratorija, čiji je prethodni naziv bio Laboratorija za molekularnu genetiku aktinomiceta, poseduje jedinstvenu kolekciju Streptomyces vrsta kao i drugih zemljišnih aktinomiceta koje nam služe kao izvor novih bioaktivnih jedinjenja i enzima od značaja za biotehnologiju.

Stručnost članova laboratorije u oblastima mikrobiologije, molekularne genetike, sintetičke hemije, veterinarske medicine, fermentacione tehnologije i biokatalize, u sprezi sa dugogodišnjim saradnjama pre svega sa industrijskim mikrobiolozima, biohemijskim inženjerima, medicinskim mikolozima i hemičarima omogućava nam da se bavimo interesantnim oblastima kao što su:

  • Biotehnologija (održivo i ekološko rešenja za sintezu vrednih molekula i biomaterijala kao i za konverziju otpadnog materijala u materijale sa većom vrednošću)
  • Biokataliza (otkrivanje i konstruisanje novih biokatalizatora za proizvodnju hiralnih molekula i poboljšanje biokatalitičkih procesa)
  • Bioremedijacija (aromatični ugljovodonici, teški metali) i biodeterioracija (kulturna dobra – slike, knjige, spomenici)
  • Proizvodnja i karakterizacija bioaktivnih jedinjenja (kolekcija Streptomyces sp.)
  • Novi pristupi u antimikrobiološkim tretmanima (molekuli koji modulišu mikrobiološku komunikaciju; agensi koji modulišu virulenciju; domaćin-patogen interakcije; sprečavanje formiranje biofilmova; antifungalna terapija)
  • Utvrđivanje taksonomske strukture mikrobioloških zajednica metagenskim pristupom i identifikacija bakterijskih izolata sekvenciranjem gena za 16S gen.

Laboratorija za molekularnu genetiku i ekologiju mikroorganizama neprekidno traži partnere za saradnju ali istovremeno i nudi usluge koje uključuju, između ostalog, mikrobiološku analizu uzoraka, analizu i karakteriaciju bioaktivnih molekula, kao i dirigovanu evoluciju enzima.
