Laboratorija za humanu molekularnu genetiku se već dugi niz godina bavi proučavanjem transkripcione regulacije ekspresije humanih SOX gena. U Laboratoriji se ispituje uloga SOX gena u procesima in vitro neurogeneze i onkogene transformacije ćelija.

LHMG se bavi i analizom diverziteta savremene srpske populacije baziranog na varijabinosti mitohondrijalne DNK što predstavlja osnovu za buduća komparativna istraživanja drevnih populacija koje su naseljavale područje Srbije.

Deo istraživačkog interesa usmeren je i na testiranje bioaktivnih komponenti izolovanih iz biljaka i gljiva i analizu njihovih potencijalnih terapeutskih svojstava primenom in vitro testova za citotoksičnost i antioksidantivnu aktivnost, kao i njihov uticaj na ćelijsku adheziju i migratorni potencijal ćelije.

LHMG nudi molekularnu dijagnostiku mikrodelecionih sindroma primenom fluorescentne in situ hibridizacije (FISH), analizu nivoa fragmentacije DNK spermatozoida koja dopunjava postojeće protokole u lečenju steriliteta, kao i primenu genetičkih markera u selekciji osobina od ekonomskog značaja kod domaćih životinja.

LHMG je opremljena savremenom laboratorijskom opremom i ima visoko kompetentne saradnike za istraživanja u oblasti humane molekularne genetike.
