RESEARCH INTEREST

  • Streptomycetes as a source of bioactive molecules

Novel therapeutics, produced by strains from untapped Streptomyces spp. culture collection, as a new chemical scaffolds for future antibiotic development. Since there is a limitation in the repertoire of available antifungal agents, the special issue is the search for new antifungals and more advanced antifungal therapies.

  • Microbial biotechnology

Bacterial fermentation; mutagenesis of Streptomyces spp. in order to increase the amount of different bioactive molecules produced by these strains; Pseudomonas spp. strain improvement using various tehniques of genetic engineering.
