Studies of molecular mechanisms that underlie plant response to abiotic stress (mainly nutrient deficiency), with emphasis on involvment of different miRNA in such conditions. Molecular- genetic, biochemical and cell-biological characterization of repair and recombination-related genes from plant pathogenic fungus Ustilago maydis. Research should contribute towards understanding how the cell responds to DNA damage and maintain its genomic integrity, thus opening opportunities for design new therapeutics for genome instability-associated defects.
