Science Days

In celebration of the national Science Day (July 10th) and the World Science Day for Peace and Development (November 10th), IMGGE will organize academic skills workshops for high school and university students.

Biodiversity day

The United Nations has proclaimed May 22 The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The date was chosen to mark the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity in 1992. The United Nations designated 2011–2020 as the Decade on Biodiversity.

Biodiversity generally refers to the variety and variability of life on Earth. It is an essential component of nature and it ensures the survival of human species by providing food, fuel, shelter, medicines and other resources. The richness of biodiversity can be affected by different factors, such as climatic conditions, land use, and pollution.

IMGGE markс Biodiversity day with an appropriate program on the premises of the cultural institutions in the city center.

Scholar the Molecular

Scholar the Molecular is a program of lectures with demonstrations for high school students, which is implemented in IMGGE during the school year and summer/winter break. Lectures mainly include review of the basic concepts and basic techniques in molecular biology, interesting and current information from research in this area, as well as the presentation of research projects that are realized in IMGGE laboratories and model systems used in the study. Some lectures serve for the introduction of students to scientific research and basic academic skills: problem selection and formulating hypothesis, finding adequate scientific literature, choice of methodology and model systems, designing, performing, writing and presenting work.

Scientific Combi-Nation

Project Scientific Combi-Nation, which offers interactive and educational activities in the field of natural sciences, was conducted during the school year 2016/2017 under the auspicies of the Center for the Promotion of Science.

The organizers are Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Faculty of Physical Chemistry and Faculty of Biology.

Two visits were organized within the project, hosted by the Medical School in Uzice and the Elementary School "Jovan Popovic" in Krusevac.
