Anticaries gel - an innovative solution for the effective treatment of caries on baby teeth

Project for the promotion of innovation and technological development in Serbia – StarTech, NALED, 2022-2024
Principal Investigator: Tatijana Stankovic, Sanbioty ad
Participants from IMGGE: Dr Aleksandar Pavic, dr Lidija Djokic

The goal of the project is the development of an innovative product "Anti-caries gel" for the effective prevention and treatment of early childhood caries (ECC). ECC is defined as the presence of one or more deciduous carious teeth in children under 6 years of age. It is the most common chronic disease in children, with one in two children suffering from ECC between the ages of 3 and 5. In its early stages, the disease is asymptomatic, but it progresses very quickly and within a few months can lead to pain, infections, eating and speech disorders that jeopardize overall health. Anti-caries gel targets the existing limitations in the therapy of ECC. It suppresses a series of physiological and microbiological processes responsible for the occurrence of this disease, with the aim of preventing the occurrence of ECC or stopping its further progression by affecting the metabolism of the bacteria that cause this process, ensuring the proper growth and development of teeth and healthy oral microflora.
